About

Building Enterprise Systems And Practical AI

I grew up in the 90s with the internet, watching it evolve from something novel into something globally essential. That early exposure sparked a lifelong curiosity for how technology works and, more importantly, how it can be used to solve real problems.

In 2007, I completed a Bachelor of Information Systems at Deakin University (Waurn Ponds), and immediately began my professional career with Gieman IT Solutions as a full-stack developer. Through this role, I have had the opportunity to work with Sony Music Entertainment since 2008, both remotely and abroad, building and delivering enterprise-grade solutions while continuing to grow alongside both organisations.

Over the past 18+ years, I have worked across a wide range of technologies, primarily in Java and modern web ecosystems, designing scalable applications, APIs, and cloud-based systems. My experience spans frameworks like Spring Boot and React, as well as enterprise databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL. But more than any specific tool, my focus has always been on building reliable, high-quality systems that stand the test of time.

More recently, my work has shifted heavily into AI. I have been an early adopter in the space, researching, experimenting, and advising on major developments as they have emerged. From integrating AI into enterprise platforms to building intelligent workflows and retrieval-based systems, I focus on making AI practical, usable, and impactful in real-world environments.

I enjoy sitting at the intersection of traditional enterprise systems and modern AI-driven solutions, helping teams internally and externally navigate change, unlock new capabilities, and deliver meaningful outcomes.

My approach is simple: explore everything, fail fast, fix fast, and always aim to implement the very best of what technology and AI has to offer.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on AI consulting, custom software delivery, practical AI adoption, pricing, and how an engagement works — for teams and businesses in Australia and worldwide.

What does an AI consultant actually do for a business?

An AI consultant helps you work out where artificial intelligence genuinely adds value — and where it doesn't — then plans and delivers it. In practice that means auditing your current systems and data, identifying high-return use cases such as automation, retrieval (RAG) search, customer-facing assistants and internal copilots, building a realistic adoption roadmap, and implementing the solution end to end. Adam Israel combines 18+ years of enterprise software engineering with hands-on AI delivery, so the advice is always grounded in what can actually be built, shipped and maintained rather than hype.

How much does AI consulting and software engineering cost in Australia?

Cost depends entirely on scope — a short advisory workshop, a fixed-scope build and an ongoing support retainer are all priced very differently. Engagements are usually structured as a discovery and advisory phase, a defined delivery project, or a monthly retainer, so you only pay for the depth of help you need. Rather than a one-size price list, you receive a clear, itemised estimate after a short conversation about your goals, timeline and constraints. Send an enquiry for a tailored quote.

What is the difference between AI consulting and software engineering?

Consulting is about strategy and direction — education, technology and AI advisory, roadmaps, tailored training, and security, privacy and compliance guidance so your team knows what to build and why. Software engineering is the delivery — designing and shipping the actual full-stack applications, APIs, integrations and AI workflows. Adam offers both under one roof, which means the strategy is written by the same person who can build it, and the build is always informed by the strategy.

How can a small or mid-sized business adopt AI safely and practically?

Start small and specific. The proven path is to pick one or two high-value, low-risk workflows, prove them with a pilot, measure the result, then scale what works — instead of a risky big-bang rollout. Practical adoption also means putting guardrails around data privacy, security and accuracy from day one, including model choices and access controls. Adam's focus is 'practical AI': usable, measurable and safe in real-world business environments, not proof-of-concepts that never ship.

Can you integrate AI into an existing enterprise system or legacy application?

Yes — much of the work is embedding modern AI into production systems that are already running, without a rip-and-replace. That includes adding retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, model-driven automation, MCP tool-calling and agent workflows to platforms built on stacks like Java, Spring Boot, Oracle and PostgreSQL, alongside modern React and TypeScript front ends. Legacy and cutting-edge are bridged rather than bulldozed, so you keep the reliability you already depend on.

Which AI models and platforms do you work with?

Delivery spans a broad, multi-model ecosystem — Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Google Gemini, Grok, Qwen and YOLO among them — selected per workload for the right balance of speed, cost, quality and governance. On the engineering side that includes vector search, model training and evaluation pipelines, and MCP-based tool calling. Being deliberately model-agnostic means you are never locked into a single vendor's roadmap, pricing or outages.

What is retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and does my business need it?

RAG is a technique where an AI model answers using your own trusted documents and data instead of only its general training — so responses are grounded, current and specific to your business. It is the backbone of accurate internal assistants, customer-support copilots and searchable knowledge bases, and it dramatically reduces the risk of an AI 'making things up'. If your team spends time hunting through documents, policies, contracts or records, a RAG-powered assistant is often the highest-value first AI project.

Is my company's data safe when using AI, and do you handle privacy and compliance?

Yes — data protection is treated as a first-class requirement, not an afterthought. Engagements can include privacy risk assessments, security and AI-compliance advice, encrypted credential handling, role-based access, and architecture choices that keep sensitive data controlled — including models and providers that offer zero data retention. The aim is AI adoption that stands up to scrutiny from your customers, auditors and regulators.

Do you build custom software, CRMs or SaaS platforms from scratch?

Yes. Alongside advisory work, Adam designs and ships full-stack products end to end — the flagship being a multi-tenant, AI-native CRM that runs a client's whole operation, plus live tools such as GoLinks (branded short links) and theeverythingapp. Services cover full-stack design and delivery, API and enterprise integration, cloud-ready architecture, online payments and subscriptions, authentication, and analytics — all built to scale.

How long does a custom software or AI project take to deliver?

Timelines depend on scope, but the approach is built for momentum. A focused pilot or proof-of-concept can often land in a few weeks, while larger platform builds run in staged milestones so you see working software early and often rather than waiting months for a single reveal. The guiding principle — explore everything, fail fast, fix fast — keeps projects moving and budgets predictable.

Do you offer remote AI consulting, or only in-person in Australia?

Both. Adam is based in Australia and available for local engagements, but has delivered internationally for years — including onsite assignments for Sony Music in Munich and New York — and works comfortably with remote and globally distributed teams. Location and time zones are rarely a barrier to strategy, delivery or ongoing support.

What is an MCP server or an AI agent, and how would a business use one?

An AI agent is a system that can take actions — calling tools, querying data and completing multi-step tasks — rather than only chatting. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the emerging standard that lets AI models securely call your tools and data under controlled permissions. In business terms that means an assistant that can actually do things in your systems — look up an order, draft an invoice, update a record — safely and auditably. Adam builds these agent-and-skill workflows directly into production applications.

What experience and background does Adam Israel bring?

Adam holds a Bachelor of Information Systems (Deakin University, 2007) and has 18+ years building enterprise-grade software — including work with Sony Music Entertainment since 2008 on finance-critical and artist-facing platforms, and with Gieman IT Solutions. That is two decades of shipping reliable, scalable systems in Java, modern web frameworks and enterprise databases, now combined with early, hands-on adoption and delivery of production AI.

How do I start an engagement, and what does the process look like?

It starts with a short enquiry describing your goals, timeline and any constraints. From there you will usually have a discovery conversation, receive a clear proposal and estimate, then move into delivery with regular check-ins and working demos. You deal directly with Adam throughout — not a layer of account managers — so decisions are fast and the work stays close to what your business actually needs.
